EAST MIDLANDS SUSTAINABILITY PARTNERSHIP

October 2024: Collaboration for Decarbonisation – Beckingham Cadet Training Centre

๐Ÿ“…ย Held on Thursday, Oct 24, 2024โ€”ย ๐Ÿ• ย 17:30-19:30โ€”ย ๐Ÿ“ย Dryden Enterprise Centre, Dryden Street, Nottingham

Background:

The maber team first started work on a Cadet Training Camp for the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadets Association back in 2022. The facility is now under construction. When completed in the spring of 2025, it will serve 150 cadets and 25 adults. The project is located on former farmland in Beckingham, Lincolnshire – in the unique context of a Medieval ridge and furrow landscape, as well as archaeological and UXO findings.

The unusual site conditions, a brief requirement to achieve a DREAM Excellent accreditation and a passion to limit the facilityโ€™s environmental impact created an opportunity to test innovative technologies and push sustainability practices to reduce waste and champion lean design.

For the October EMSP event the project’s architect, landscape architect, structural engineer and contractor are delighted to present their collaborative journey to deliver a series of lightweight pre-fabricated timber frame buildings and decks, supported by recycled tyre foundations and sheltered by gabion walls and electric-arc furnace roof panels whilst hitting BNG targets.

Doors open at 5.30pm for registration and to grab a drink
